Ready for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
The "Ice Bucket Challenge" initiated by the ALS Association has swept the U.S. and even Hong Kong! Just google the Challenge and you will find countless videos of tycoons and celebrities embracing the challenge so as to raise the awareness about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and support the Association.
ALS, also known as motor neuron disease (MND), is incurable. Can you imagine the pain of seeing the disease paralyze your body slowly, from fingers to your tongue, depriving you of your ability to move, speak, eat, and even breathe when you are fully conscious? Yet we firmly believe that life can be beautiful despite the suffering.
The Hong Kong Neuro-Muscular Disease Association has been relying on private donations and grants from various funds. However, given the relatively smaller number of patients and our low public awareness, our support for ALS patients has been limited by the financial constraints.
You can now bring hope to ALS patients in Hong Kong with an ice bucket! Even if you cannot take up the Ice Bucket Challenge, you can also help by spreading this message further and letting more people know about us.
How to Play:
Pour a bucket of ice water over your head, record and post the challenge video on any social networking sites. Then nominate three individuals to take on the challenge or made a donation to the Hong Kong Neuro-Muscular Disease Association.
